We cannot afford to live alone after marriage

Living with family can be a temporary solution, but only if everyone is honest about privacy, money and how long temporary might last.

In short

Do not hide the housing reality. If your only workable option is living with parents, describe the exact setup before Nikah and discuss privacy, chores, bills and family involvement. If the arrangement would not give the couple reasonable privacy or would cause serious harm, the plan may need to change.

What Islam gives us here

Qur'an 65:7 links spending to a person's means.

Marriage should still be lived with kindness and reasonable accommodation according to circumstances.

A bedroom in a busy house is not the same as a separate flat

Talk about bathrooms, kitchen, entrances, guests and who else lives there. The details matter more than the phrase 'with my parents'.

Temporary needs a plan

If both people agree this is for one or two years, discuss what would need to happen before moving. Otherwise temporary can quietly become permanent.

Do not promise privacy you cannot give

If parents expect to enter rooms, control meals or decide every outing, that should be discussed before the spouse moves in.

What you can do now

  1. Describe the exact living space.
  2. Agree privacy and household boundaries.
  3. Discuss what each person will contribute financially.
  4. Set a realistic review point for moving if the plan is temporary.

Questions people usually ask next

Is living with parents after marriage wrong?

No. It can work well. The question is whether the actual arrangement is suitable and the couple's rights and privacy are respected.

What if my fiance says yes now but clearly hates the idea?

Do not treat a reluctant yes as a solved problem. Keep discussing the plan before Nikah.
