The bride, groom, wali, witnesses and imam need a reliable way to identify one another and follow the ceremony. The relevant participants must be able to hear the offer and acceptance properly.
What the technology is there to do
The technology reduces confusion by inviting the right people, surfacing the agreed mahr, showing which checks are complete and creating a reliable record of the ceremony. It does not invent Islamic rulings or pretend an on-screen workflow itself constitutes the Nikah.
