VidNikah requires two suitable Muslim witnesses for the ceremony. They must be present for the relevant offer and acceptance and able to understand that a Nikah is taking place.
Witnesses are there to witness the marriage exchange. For an online ceremony they should join reliably, be identifiable and be able to hear the relevant words without ambiguity.
After the spoken exchange, the VidNikah ceremony record can capture each witness’s confirmation that they witnessed the offer and acceptance. That record supports documentation; it does not replace their actual witnessing.
